Monterrey, Nuevo León

The Sultan of the North

The city conserved the name given during its third foundation, done by Don Diego de Montemayor in 1596 in honor to Don Gaspar de Zúñiga and Acevedo, Count of Monterrey, at that time Virrey of the New Spain.

The most visited site is The Macroplaza, which includes many constructions and sculptures that is worth to see. The list is impressive: Light of Commerce, the Fountain of Neptune, Tribute to the Sun, Museum of Contemporary Art, Cathedral of Monterrey, Casino of Monterrey, Chapel of the Sweet Names, Old District, Theater of the City, Central Library, Santa Lucia Stroll, Museum of Mexican History, Heroes Square, Palace of Government, Old Federal Palace, Temple of the Sacred Heart, Superior Court of Justice, Congress of the State, Building of Infonavit, Sunk Park, and Metropolitan Museum of Monterrey.

Outside this area there are more sites to visit, like the Fundidora Park, the Cuauhtémoc Brewery (where the Museum of Monterrey and the Hall Fame are located), the Young Heroes Park, the Estanzuela Park, etc.
