Mexico
A unique experience

Mexico is a traveler's paradise, crammed with a multitude of opposing identities: desert landscapes, snow-capped volcanoes, ancient ruins, big cities, time-warped colonial towns, glitzy resorts, lonely beaches and a world-beating collection of flora and fauna.

Mention of Mexico makes many people think of colorful Mexican dancers, guitarists playing romantic serenades, and sleepy little towns with houses of whitewashed walls and red-tiled roofs. Others think of a traffic jam in a megalopolis such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, or Monterrey. Some call to mind a people who are humble and hospitable, who smile and offer a friendly handshake.

The population totals upwards of 100 million. The official language is Spanish; yet, other 60 indian languages are also spoken. The two most important because of its number of people who speak them are: náhuatl, spoken mainly in the central region of the country by more than one million people; and mayan, spoken in the southeast part of the country by 900 thousand people.

More than one major tribe of Indians is prominent in Mexican history. There were the Olmec, Maya, Zapotec, and Toltec. When the Spanish began to occupy the West Indies during the 1490s, the Aztec ruled much of what is now south-central Mexico. Their capital city, Tenochtitlán, had a population that some have estimated as being 250,000.

In 1521, when the last Aztec emperor surrendered to Hernán Cortés, this land came under the control of Spain, which later would be called New Spain. With the arrival of the Spaniards, there was a clash of cultures, that undoubtedly forged and enriched the present identity of Mexican people.

Mexico has a big variety of touristic destinies for all kind of travelers. It has great touristic complexes on beautiful beaches such as: Acapulco, Cancún, Los Cabos, etc. It has also many archeological sites where it is possible to appreciate ruins of civilizations that flourished in Mexican territory, such as the ruins of Teotihuacán, Chichén Itzá, Palenque, etc. Moreover, colonial cities are an amazing atraccion for tourists, where it is possible to see their wonderful architecture and their beautiful and picturesque streets, examples of it are: Guanajuato, Mexico City, Oaxaca, Zacatecas, Querétaro, Taxco, etc.

Mexico is this and much more. It is simply a unique experience!
